The year 2020 was characterized by the wild spread of the COVID-19, the lockdowns that ensued, ban on travel and cancellation of sporting events to mention just a few. Despite all those sad developments we had some positives.

We successfully hosted the BWF Level 1 Course which was facilitated by Badminton Confederation Africa Development Officers – Mr Bernadine Bokpe and Mr Ahmed Reda.

Players Development

Avishi Raina was successful in her application for the BWF-WAoS Athlete Certificate Scholarship Programme 2020.

Technical Officials

BAZ continued to increase its workforce of Technical Officials. Badminton Confederation Africa launched an online course dubbed the “Road to BCA Accreditation”. This was a welcome development and served as a preparation for those seeking to take the BCA Umpires Accreditation Assessment in the near future.
